Which one will you choose.......

01

Laugharne

Known for being the home of Dylan Thomas, this castle has a beautiful view over the mouth of the river and out to sea. The castle often has a treasure hunt for kids and its a great place to get ice cream and splash in the stream in spring and summer (or, if you are my kids, any season).

03

Cilgerran

This castle is on the River Teifi and just on the edge of a lovely village. It is a nice walk along the river from the car park. It is also very close to the lovely Welsh Wildlife Centre if you want to visit a few places together (and you could head into Cardigan to finish off the day out too).

02

Llansteffan

This one is free to enter, and a nice little walk up the hill from the car park. There is a lovely beach near the car park with a play area on the sand and a great fish and chip shop near by - so it is easy to make this castle a full day trip if you want to.

04

Kidwelly

One of the most impressive castles in the area - it has been used for filming before - it offers great views across the area.

06

Cardigan castle

This one is a bit special (but I am biased because it was covered in snow and a complete winter wonderland last time we visited). It is 300 ft above the river and offers outstanding views. There are some lovely local walks in the area and a lovely cafe for you to warm up in after you have taken in the views.

In the heart of Cardigan, the castle hosts a series of events and performances - it is worth checking out whether there is something on during your stay. It has impressive gardens and a restaurant which are worth a visit too.

07

Dinefwr

Slightly further away, but well worth a visit, Dinefwr offers a castle, deer park and a National Trust property so make sure you have plenty of time - all of these deserve some time and are worth a visit on their own.
