New Quay
New Quay is a lovely seaside town and our favourite place to go for chips and ice cream - during the summer the ice cream at Creme Pen Cei is amazing and well worth trying. The beach in the harbour is shallow and great for little ones to splash about in. We have also been able to spot dolphins from the beach (though you can take a boat tour to get a closer look). There are multiple car parks - one at the bottom and then others including one at the top of the hill. Dogs are welcome on the main beach at certain times of the year but always welcome on the smaller beach and there are shower facilities to wash down kids.

Mwnt
This is a National Trust beach. You have to drive down some single track roads at the end but it is well worth it. There are some steep steps down to the beach but it is a beautiful spot to spend a day. It is known for its church at the top and cliff top walks. There can be some great waves so don’t forget to take bodyboards. This is another good spot for dolphins as well. There is a cafe at the top of the steps which does lovely bacon butties and ice creams. This is another site where you need cash (or be a National Trust member). Dogs are welcome at certain times of the year.
03
Aberporth
Aberporth is a great place to go for both its gorgeous beach but also rock pooling when the tide is out. There is a lovely chip shop (also selling nice ice creams) and a cafe on the cliff top. The two car parks ask for a donation so take some cash - though they are very small and fill up quickly so we prefer to park further up the hill away from the beach and walk down during the summer months. Dogs are welcome on half of the beach all year round and there are shower facilities.

Llangrannog
This is a lovely little pebble beach and a great place to access the Wales Coastal Path. At high tide, the beach is very small but as the tide goes out, the beach appears and you can walk round into the next little cove. There are two lovely little pubs and a pizza place here so it makes a great place to come for a day to grab lunch. There is also a cafe which does great ice-cream. To park here you need to pay through Just Park app. Dogs are welcome on the main beach at certain times of the year but are welcome all year round in the next.
05
Tresaith
This is a great spot for waterfall lovers. There is a great one that flows on to the beach though at very high tide you may not be able to get to it so check the times out before you go. There are limited facilities here so you need to make sure you pack your picnic. Dogs are welcome on some parts of the beach all year round.
06
Poppit Sands
Poppit Sands is a huge open beach at the mouth of the Teifi. It is great for an open space to build sandcastles and play in the sand. It is also a lovely spot for walking dogs. The tide can be very strong here. By the car park there is a Crwst cafe - Crwst is one of our favourite places to eat in Cardigan and the food at this cafe is just as gorgeous. Well worth a visit for a lovely day but not our favourite if you fancy a swim. Dogs are welcome on parts of the beach all year round.

Penbryn
This is another National Trust beach. You park near the cafe and the beach is a little walk away. Every time we have ever visited it has been almost empty despite being a gorgeous beach - we have had it almost to ourselves. On the way back, we like to go the long way, across the little bridge and through the woods. It is slightly longer but it is a nice way to finish a beach day. The cafe is great for a sausage roll or cake to take down to the beach. Dogs are welcome on parts of the beach all year round.
08
Pembrey
Pembrey Country Park has something for everyone - beach, park, skiing, golf - it has it all. The beach itself is vast and beautiful. It goes on for miles and allows everyone to run wild. The Country Park has cafes and places to retreat for food if you want a break or if the wind gets too much. Dogs welcome on the beach year round apart from the blue flag area.

There are plenty of other beaches to consider - Cwmtydu, Ceibwr, Cei Bach, Llansteffan, Pendine to name but a few. Let us know what you are looking for and we can make some suggestions.
